Brand Photography For Businesses That Make Things

Most makers are amazing at creating what they specialise in, but struggle with getting the recognition they deserve

When you don’t have a plan for how you show up you…

look smaller than you are.
Your work is great, but a few rushed phone photos make you look like everyone else, so people compare you on price instead of quality.

miss out on the projects you actually want.
When the big job, tender or award entry comes up, you're digging through your camera roll for something usable, and the business that looks the part gets it.

end up posting randomly, or not at all.
Social gets pushed to "next week," and when you do post there's no plan behind it, so it feels like a waste of time and does nothing for the business.

I've been on your side of the job

Before photography paid the bills, I spent years opening hotels: the design, the fit-out, the whole messy process of getting a building from plans to finished. That's where I got to work with a lot of makers. Joiners, stonemasons, shop-fitters, fabricators, builders. People who'd happily spend an extra day getting a detail right that most clients would never notice.

So I know what goes into the stuff you make. And I know that the finished product is only half the story.

The other half is the workshop. The tools. The offcuts on the floor. The person who's been doing this for 20 years and still checks every join twice. That's the bit people want to see, because it shows them who they're actually trusting with their project.

That's what I photograph.

I also know you don't have time to sit there choosing between 400 photos or working out what to post on Instagram next Tuesday. That's my job. I'll capture the story, pick the strongest images and video, and hand you a simple plan for actually using it all.

You get back to making things.

Welcome to

YOUR STORY

You've built something worth talking about. Now people need to know who's behind it.

Your Story is for makers who need to show more than the finished product. It's the full picture: you, your team, your workshop and the work you're proud of. Over one day on site, we capture the photos and video you need to introduce your business properly, then hand you a 12-week plan so you're not left staring at a folder wondering what to do with it all.

No awkward posing, no fluff. Just good stuff that shows people who you are and why they should work with you.

What changes for your business

A website you're actually proud of
Clients see the finished projects and the work behind them, which is what makes them trust you with theirs.

People feel like they know you before they call
Putting a face to the business makes picking up the phone feel less like calling a stranger.

Socials people actually stop for
Your process on screen gives people a reason to stop scrolling and pay attention.

A first impression that does the selling
Visitors land on your site and know straight away you're serious about what you do.

Content that gets used, not forgotten
You'll know exactly what to post, where and when, so nothing ends up sitting in a folder.

A bit about me

I've been taking photos since I was ten, which makes it 30-plus years now. It's always been the thing I come back to.

Photography wasn't always my job, though. Before this I was opening hotels, working on the design and fit-out and getting them from plans to open doors. That's where I got to work with all kinds of makers: joiners, stonemasons, metalworkers, upholsterers, people who make the stuff that turns a building into a place. I saw how much skill and care goes into work most people walk past without noticing.

When I made photography my full-time job, I started out shooting architecture and spaces, and I've been doing it commercially for about five years. My work has been published and shortlisted in a couple of international competitions. But I keep getting pulled back to the makers. These days that's what I love shooting most: the workshop, the process, the people, and the finished piece they're proud of.

I've been in Canberra for 12 years. It's a great place to raise a family, and it's full of small businesses doing seriously good work.

The business is small on purpose. I'm at every shoot, even when someone from my team is on the camera, because you should be dealing with a real person who actually cares about your work.

If you've made something worth showing off, I'd love to hear about it.
