Go Brick — Commercial Masonry, Three Canberra Builds

Brickwork is usually the first thing you see on a building and the last thing anyone gives credit for. Go Brick wanted that fixed: three finished projects, photographed so the masonry is the subject, not the background.

At Garran Primary School, the new extension is laid in reclaimed red brick. At East Edge, large-format charcoal block is laid in a clean stack bond under the glazing and softened by the landscaping. At The Borough, a multi-storey residential build in red-blend brick, with deep brick frames around the windows sitting on a charcoal brick base and garden walls.

Wide shots show the scale and how the brickwork sits in each finished building. Close-ups show the coursing, joints and finish, which is where good masonry separates itself from the rest. Three different builds, one crew's work.
